Bourg d’Oisans (altitude 720m) is a market town with the local market being held every Saturday throughout the year and is located in a valley of the Oisans region of the French Alps on the outskirts of the Ecrins national park. Bourg d’Oisans is the perfect base for road cycling and there are many world class cycling routes within a day’s ride of the town like Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Lautaret, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon and the lacet montvernier to name a few. Due to this amazing cycling location is the reason the Tour de France and the Criterium Dauphine passes through or very close to the area on so many occasions. Annually there are a few major amateur cycling events that start from Bourg d’Oisans namely the Marmotte gran fondo Alps and the haute route.
